Nikos is a European Patent Attorney and an IP strategist at Aptiv, where he works closely with companies and academic institutions to protect their innovative solutions. Nikos specialises in the fields of electronics, telecommunications, semiconductor and computing with a particular focus in Artificial Intelligence, cloud computing, Blockchain, digital health, Big Data, and IoT.
He is an Electrical/Electronic engineer (BEng), with postgraduate studies (MSc and PhD) in Microelectronics. Upon completion of his PhD, Nikos moved to Belgium to work at IMEC, at first as a senior researcher in the design of 3D- Stacked Integrated Circuits (3D-SIC), and later as a patent portfolio manager. It was this work that sparked his interest in IP and the role it plays in enhancing the commercial value of research output.
Outside of work, Nikos is involved in range of activities including the LES Britain and Ireland committee, the EQE examination committee for paper C, and the ISO/TC 279 technical committee dealing with the development of the IP management standard (ISO 56005). He is a regular speaker at conferences and training seminar where he promotes the strategic role of IP in business.
